

Ed Kirwan
Ed Kirwan is the Founder and CEO of Empathy Studios, an education and creative studio using the power of film to develop the skill of empathy.
A former science teacher and Head of Chemistry, Ed transitioned into filmmaking in 2018, launching The Empathy Programme in 2020. Backed by Cambridge University research, upon using the programme, teachers have reported improved behaviour, increased self-esteem and higher levels of empathy in their students.
Ed also founded Empathy Week, the world's largest empathy festival, reaching over 1.8 million students in 56 countries. He believes empathy is essential for leadership, creativity, and collaboration, calling it a "Trojan horse for real transformation."
Ed's team now also work with education associations, companies and organisations looking to navigate change, lead authentically and make empathy tangible in their organisations. Empathy truly is the skill that is foundational to our wellbeing, personal relationships and professional development.
Ed holds several qualifications including BSc degree, PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status and an MA in Leadership from UCL:IOE.
Ed is also level 3 safeguarding trained.
