Nurturing Early Learners: Integrating Play, Developing Skills, and Documenting Growth in the Early Years
This comprehensive workshop delves into three interconnected pillars of Early Years education: purposeful play, foundational skill-building, and meaningful documentation. Participants will explore strategies to create dynamic, play-centered environments that naturally foster Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills in young learners. Together, we’ll examine a real-world Unit of Inquiry as a case study, demonstrating how a curriculum can prioritize play as a driver of social, cognitive, and emotional growth across different developmental stages. Finally, we’ll look at techniques for documenting each child's unique journey, making learning visible and fostering connections with families. This session is designed to empower educators to cultivate, observe, and celebrate each child’s growth in a way that honors the wonder and complexity of early learning.

Windows, Mirrors, Doors, and More: Integrating Multiple Perspectives within Education
Many global initiatives have been constructed with the mission of creating culturally conscious spaces within education. It is not uncommon to hear buzz words like ‘diversity’, ‘equity’, and ‘inclusion’ intertwined with educational pedagogy. Since the end of the Cold War, ethno-cultural conflicts have become the most common source of political violence in the world, and they show no sign of abating (Brubacker and Laitin, 1998; Kymlicka, 1995; Sen, 2007). As globally-minded educators who interact with a diverse population regularly, we intimately know and experience on a daily basis how important it is to curate representative spaces within our school culture. This session aims to provide educators with a space to reflect on their own teaching and tools to develop a critical approach for adapting inclusive practices. Participants will be challenged to perform introspective work, and to contemplate how the ways in which we are cultured impact the way we teach.

When Education saves lives
Our Schools are more than just Schools. They are research and development centers. Between Greece, Syria, Kenya, DR Congo and Yemen we apply and refine the Still I Rise Educational Model to bring top-quality education, available only to 0.1 percent of children, to every child in the world. This is how we are fixing the global education crisis, raising a new ruling class among today’s forgotten children, capable of rewriting the future of us all. To raise ambitious, courageous and caring leaders, we have created and implemented the Still I Rise Method, a revolutionary teaching approach that promotes critical and creative thinking, instilling deep passion and a concrete commitment to social justice and societal progress. Day by day, child after child, we are building the future we want.

10 ways not to raise your voice as a Primary School teacher.
This workshop is intended to offer 10 practical tips on how to avoid the need to raise your voice as a primary school teacher. It will be presented by an experienced teacher of Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11), but should also be of relevance to Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7) and Middle School (ages 11-14). Consistently raising your voice as a teacher can lead to physical strain; it also models the types of behaviour that we discourage in the children. With this in mind, we should all strive to develop other methods of communication with the children we teach. The tips will be themed around 3 common situations in which teachers tend to raise their voice or shout: when addressing negative behaviour, when trying to get the attention of the class and during transitions. The workshop aims to offer 2 benefits to attendees. First, it will function as a refresher of behaviour management strategies that attendees may have seen or used previously, but have not been consistently applying. Second, it will provide some new and easily applied behaviour management strategies that could be brought into the classroom the very next day.

How to use art & creativity as an essential piece for exploring other subject areas
In a world where technology has become synonymous with everyday life, I have noticed that young people are not given many opportunities where they can use their hands to create, build, innovate, solve, explore, enjoy. Instead, they often seek instantaneous solutions, which are readily available, with the simple action of touching a screen. When I was teaching an art class recently to grade 4 students, only 2 students had the strength to use a stapler to staple 2 pieces of paper together. The whole class became fascinated with the stapler, and I realized for many of them, it was the first time they had seen or used a stapler. For many of us, this seems unbelievable, and when we investigate further, we often discover that young people today are given less opportunities to use their hands and tools to create. More importantly, they are not being given enough opportunities to combine, using their hands to find imaginative and innovative ways to express themselves, or represent something they have learned. This workshop will allow participants to learn new techniques, skills and approaches to include art and creativity in other subject areas. Participants will take away several lesson concepts that they can use in the future.

Demonstrating Critical Thinking in the World Studies Extended Essay
This session introduces the World Studies Extended Essay (WSEE) and how the requirements allow space for students to demonstrate critical thinking throughout. As an interdisciplinary essay based on an issue of contemporary global significance, the WSEE gives students the opportunity to explore real world problems through two disciplinary lenses, drawing on concepts, skills and methods from subjects which may otherwise not be brought into contact. The result can be an innovative and unique essay, and the forthcoming changes to the EE from 2025 appear to be inviting a similar approach.

Wellbeing for learning: practical strategies to support wellbeing and enable better learning
Around the world, our children and young people are experiencing a wellbeing and mental health crisis and we have realised that it is not enough to simply help children pass tests: they need to learn to look after themselves in order to be successful learners and become healthy adults. We also know that when pupils do not experience wellbeing, it is very difficult for them to learn effectively. This workshop explores a series of strategies teachers can use to develop and enhance wellbeing, showcasing some real life case studies of how these strategies can be implemented not just into the curriculum, but into the broader life of the school. We will explore:- how the Zones of Regulation and associated teaching can enable pupils to better understand and manage their emotions and those of others- how a wellbeing curriculum can be designed and implemented- how direct teaching of mindfulness can develop better wellbeing over time- how values led approaches to behaviour and relationships can remove the need for sanctions and rewards- how a pastoral team approach can support the most vulnerable learners

The power and value of play in Early Years
